A busy few weeks
What a busy month April was!
To celebrate the launch of Meet the Weather, book 3 in our Meet the World Series, I’ve been travelling here there and everywhere doing events for bookshops and schools.
Bethan Woollvin, the books’ illustrator, and I went to Seven Stories where we did two live workshops and recorded a session for schools. Seven Stories looked after us so well and fed us some amazing cake, so do pop in if you’re in the Newcastle area!
We also spent some time with the wonderful Sue and Andrew at Simply Books in Bramhall. In the morning, we visited Nevill Road Infant School and had a great time singing the Meet the Weather song! At the end of our session, the book signing queue went all the way around the hall!
In the afternoon we ran a workshop in the bookshop and had a great time making our weather hats with children. In total I think we signed 290 books that day. Crikey!
I also went up to Darling Reads Bookshop near Wakefield and had a lovely afternoon with children, singing more songs and making more hats!
Oh and I visited two Sheffield schools last Friday with the National Literacy Trust, helping to boost literacy with some sessions on The Girl who Planted Trees.
In between all that, I spent a wonderful couple of days at the London Book Fair - I reckon I must have walked about 50 miles over two days. I caught up with some of my editors, bumped into some lovely author and illustrator friends and even managed a drink with my brilliant agent. Oh, and I saw lots and LOTS of books.
So I guess authors don’t spend all day every day writing!
Phew!
